Our Staff
Meet the staff of North Windham Veterinary Hospital!
Dr. Jeffrey Carr, DVM
Owner Veterinarian
Dr. Carr is the owner of the North Windham Veterinary Hospital since 1989. A graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine, he has practiced in Maine since graduation. He has dedicated his life to improving the lives of animals and their families and his interests include and go beyond our dog and cat friends. Dr. Carr sees small mammals including rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and hamsters. He performs a full range of medical and surgical procedures including fracture repair, hip and knee surgery, as well as chemotherapy for cancer patients. Dr. Carr maintains the hospital's cutting edge status through extensive pain mangement protocols for optimal patient treatment and comfort. Diagnostics are performed with new flexible and rigid endoscopy, digital ultrasound, and digital X-ray. Dr. Carr has two sons; Austin and Matt. Austin has a teaching degree from University of Maine at Farmington and works for the Raymond and Windham School districts. Matt now works here at the Hospital after studying Medical Biology at University of New England. Dr Carr currently shares his life with two cats. Dewey and Luey are both orange male cats that were donated to Hospital. Dewey had a broken leg and Luey had severe case of Pneumonia. They are both fully recovered and the doctor’s constant companion. Dr Carr knows first-hand what’s like to live with a pet whose health is compromised. For many years, Baxter, his Black Lab, lived with epilepsy, myasthenia gravis, and severe elbow dysplasia.
Dr. Greg Closter, DVM
Veterinarian
Dr. Closter joined North Windham Veterinary Hospital in 2011. A graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Closter completed his undergraduate coursework at the University of Maine and Indiana University. In his “previous lifetime,” Dr. Closter worked in the high tech industry where he designed software and websites. His love of animals and an overwhelming desire to help people and their pets on a daily basis led him to pursue a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Closter and his wife, Denise, share a home with their three dogs – Sebastian, a St. Bernard, Razz, a Leonberger, and M’kwa, a Shepherd mix – and two cats, Rosie and Teddy, all of whom are rescue animals. As a giant breed dog owner, Dr. Closter is particularly familiar with the health concerns unique to large and giant breed dogs. When not wielding a stethoscope, Dr. Closter enjoys hiking and mountaineering (the tallest mountain scaled to date is Mt. Kilimanjaro), skiing, running, and walking the dogs.
